Mr R.Santhaswarupan, Chief Advisor, Shalom , has expressed the vote of thanks.

The project located at Kadur in Palakkad district, in a picturesque location, 10 kms away from Palakkad city, consists of 50 houses with all necessary facilities. The houses are constructed to suit the different tastes of the occupants. Customers are offered different schemes for wider selection. Those who are keen to own a house under “Save and Build” scheme can opt from twenty-eight houses, having a carpet area of 450 sq ft. Another category of eleven houses are built with an area of 550 sq.ft. This will meet the requirements of lower as well as middle income groups. On the upper segment, the project also offers 11 houses having 650 sq.ft area. Each houses, with two bed rooms, a drawing room, sit-out, kitchen, bath room and toilet, have been planned, designed and constructed to cater to the needs of changing attitudes of customers. The colony has well-connected approach roads, water and electricity connection, drainage system etc. A house can be possessed by paying one-third of the total cost and the balance amount will be bank-linked with the Canara Bank, Big Bazaar, Palakkad.

The entire project is spread over 2.5 acres of land at Kadur which is located at a prime location. One of the main advantages of the project is that it is connected from different parts of Palakkad. At one side, the Palakkad-Shornur-Trichur road is passing through this area ; on the other side there is another road network which connects Palakkad with Pudur. Besides, all infrastructural facilities like school, hospital, markets etc. are available in and around the site.
The project, started in April 2006, has completed in a record time of less than two years. The project, conceived to provide homes for the landless and homeless people at affordable price, has received good response. Most of the houses at Can-Shalom Paradise have been sold out. Can-Shalom Paradise is the third housing project undertaken by Shalom.

This is a joint endeavor of Shalom, Canara Bank and people’s movements. Therefore, the strategy adopted to facilitate this scheme is joint participation from all support providers. Shalom in collaboration with banks are playing a major role in eradicating shortage of housing through the self help groups. For successful attainment of this project the Shalom has a customer-friendly methodology.
Shalom will identify the members from the groups who do not either have own land nor shelter. The identified members of the mother groups will constitute an activity group. Each group will have minimum of 15 members and maximum of 25 members. This activity groups is formed for the purpose of house construction. This group is called “Save and Build” group
